Small but medium to dark amethyst quartz is found in association with its host basalt matrix. There is also some banded agate present throughout the specimen. While not a true geode, in a sense, this specimen appears to be more of a vug as the amethyst could not be removed from the host basalt matrix like most Uruguay amethyst geodes are collected. Found south of Artigas, Artigas Department, Uruguay. Price is $30.00 plus shipping.
