A clear quartz lined Keokuk, Iowa area geode is host to several black goethite crystals. The cavity in this geode is not the most open, but the goethites are fairly heavily concentrated in the upper hollow segment of each half. The geode was opened into two halves with a soil pipe cutter and the edges are not polished. Collected at Larry Creek north of Hamilton, Hancock County, Illinois.
