Quartz casts after Calcite with Barite - Baia Sprie, Maramures Co., Romania: Quartz with a light orange color due to iron staining serves as casts over what was likely former calcite. The drusy coating is host to a scattering of clusters of barite crystals. The barites are not large per crystal (mainly at or below 1 cm or 0.4 inches on edge) but many crystals in clusters all over the specimen makes for a nice effect. Given the somewhat brittle nature of the barites, a few crystals are broken but nothing major. Interesting specimen from Romania. $150.00
