#BG-208 - Galena on Sphalerite

Kruchev Dol Mine, Madan Deposit, southern Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria

11 x 8 x 2 cm (4.3 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches) - $150.00

A fine galena/sphalerite combination from Kruchev Dol.  The matrix is coated mostly with sphalerite, but a cluster of galenas is found on the top of the specimen.  The galena crystals are mainly 1.5-2.5 cm (0.6-1 inch) in size, and form a "chain" at the top of the specimen.  The only damage is possibly a small cleaved area at the far right (see the bottom left photo).  This does not appear to be a fresh cleave and tends to blend in to the rest of the galenas because the typical high cleavage luster is not there like is seen in freshly cleaved specimens.  A fine hand-sized galena/sphalerite combination from Bulgaria!
